1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using pavements.design (the "Site"), including any calculators, equations, tools, documentation, or related materials (collectively, the "Tools"), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, you should not use the Site.
2. Purpose of the Site
pavements.design is a collaborative, educational project intended to:
- Document and share concrete pavement design and analysis frameworks
- Provide transparent implementations of established calculation methodologies
- Support education and technical advancement in concrete pavement design and construction
The Site is provided free of charge and is not a commercial engineering service.
3. No Professional Services
The Site and its Tools:
- Do not constitute engineering services
- Do not create an engineer–client relationship
- Do not replace professional judgment
- Are not a substitute for applicable codes, standards, or project-specific engineering
All calculations, frameworks, and outputs are provided for informational and educational purposes only. The Tools may contain computational errors, omissions, implementation differences from published methodologies, or limitations that affect results. Outputs should always be independently verified before being used in design, construction, or engineering decision-making.
4. No Warranty
While we make a good-faith effort to:
- Accurately implement published methodologies
- Verify equations and calculations
- Review and test outputs
The Site and Tools are provided "as is" and "as available." We make no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to:
- Accuracy
- Completeness
- Reliability
- Fitness for a particular purpose
- Compliance with local codes or project requirements
Errors, omissions, or computational inaccuracies may exist.
5. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, pavements.design, its contributors, and collaborators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to:
- Use of the Site
- Reliance on calculations or outputs
- Interpretation of information
- Design decisions based on Site content
- Construction outcomes or project performance
You assume full responsibility for all use of information obtained from the Site. Use of the Site and Tools is at the user's sole risk.
6. User Responsibility
Users are responsible for:
- Verifying all inputs and outputs
- Confirming unit consistency
- Applying appropriate load factors, safety factors, and design criteria
- Ensuring compliance with governing codes and standards
- Exercising independent professional judgment
Engineering design is context-specific. No calculator can replace competent technical evaluation.
7. Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise noted, content on the Site — including code, text, graphics, and documentation — is the property of pavements.design contributors. Published methodologies referenced (e.g., StreetPave framework concepts) remain the intellectual property of their respective organizations. Users may reference and cite materials for educational or professional purposes, but may not misrepresent the origin of the Tools or content.
8. Modifications
We reserve the right to modify, update, or discontinue any portion of the Site at any time without notice. Methodologies and implementations may evolve as the project develops.
